Gini index for land distribution in agriculture
Level Municipal10 years
Definition
The Gini index measures land concentration, serving as a measure of resource distribution. This indicator measures differences in the distribution of land used for food production. Values closer to one indicate inequality in land distribution, while values closer to zero indicate homogeneity.
Interpretation
Higher values for this indicator point to an unequal distribution of land in food production and, consequently, to less sustainability in the economic aspect of the food system.
