PresSISAN:Presence and quality of the National Food and Nutrition Security System in Brazilian municipalities
Definition
Score ranging from 0 to 4 assigned to the level of municipal adherence to the National Food and Nutrition Security System (SISAN). One point is awarded for meeting each of the three mandatory adherence criteria. An additional point may be granted based on the quality of Sisan’s effective implementation at the municipal level, assessed through 31 supplementary indicators.
Interpretation
The indicator measures the degree of institutionalization of the National Food and Nutrition Security System (SISAN) in Brazilian municipalities. It was developed with the support of the Interministerial Chamber for Food and Nutrition Security. In addition to enabling continuous monitoring of municipalities that have joined SISAN and supporting the planning of strategies to expand adherence, the PresSISAN highlights how municipal participation in SISAN contributes to the development and structuring of local food and nutrition security policies
