Percentage of food production that is exported
Definition
Percentage of the quantity of food products exported in relation to the total food production of the region. This indicator serves as an estimate of the share of local food production in the national food supply.
Interpretation
Higher values for this indicator point to a lower contribution of local food production to the national food supply and, consequently, to less sustainability of the economic aspect of the food system.
