Definition

Water resources from rivers, lakes or aquifers are called “blue water”. This indicator is a measure of blue water use in food production activities.

Interpretation

Higher values for this indicator point to higher water resources expenses for food production and, consequently, to a lower sustainability of the food system environmental aspect.
